Hailing from his island home of St. Lucia, Taj Weekes leads his band, Adowa, in crafting a reggae sound that is both faithful to its forerunners and has fresh things to say. Weekes and Co. settle their songs into gliding, vibrant grooves yet never settle for anything less than a richly textured musical experience. Michael Kuelker of St. Louismusic hub KDHX called Weekes "a penetrating poet who is averse to easy rhyme, platitude and simple didacticism.
